Context

Disko Plinko is part of Hypeup’s Crash Games collection: classic Plinko mechanics with the look of a 90s disco pinball, neon lights and mirrored surfaces. A Full Moon event transforms the game with a cosmic palette.

Challenge

Plinko is simple; a rich arcade theme can easily bury the multipliers and controls players need. The theme also had to support live events and campaigns without a redesign each time.

My role

I designed the game’s visual system, the responsive interface for desktop and mobile, the animations, lighting and particle details, and the Full Moon event variation.

Key decisions

  • Neon that guides

Glowing typography and gradients are used where players need to look: multipliers and interactive elements light up, the decoration stays in the background.

  • A board that reads top to bottom

The pinball-inspired layout leads the eye from the drop point to the multipliers, keeping each ball easy to follow.

  • Events as a game state

During Full Moon the palette shifts and the disco ball becomes a moon, tied to the platform’s reward system to create anticipation.

  • A themeable UI system

Colours and assets are tokenised so the same game adapts to new campaigns and events.
